[ACADEMIC EVENT] IMPULSE program: hands-on training for the scientific community
From April 4, 2024 to June 28, 2024
Are you a researcher or scientific staff member within the Lyon Saint-Étienne university site? Would you like to take part in a hands-on training course that will give you all the tools you need to make a successful transition from the laboratory to society? If the answer is yes, sign up for the first edition of the IMPULSE Program.
IMPULSE, winner of the “Pôles Universitaires d’Innovation” (University Innovation Centers) call for projects
The IMPULSE project within the Lyon Saint-Étienne university site has been selected in the start-up phase of the “Pôles Universitaires d’Innovation” call for projects. With the ambition of creating deeptech start-ups based on the scientific excellence of the site, project participants will be involved in everything, from identifying technologies to coordinating all the region’s innovation players. The Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1 and PULSALYS are in charge of the strategic and operational management of this project, which is carried out by the Université de Lyon.
From the laboratory to society: the first edition of the IMPULSE Program
Who is it for?
Researchers, research staff and hospital staff from higher education and research institutions on the Lyon and Saint-Étienne sites.
Objectives
To enable scientists to realize the potential of their projects and bring together all the ingredients needed to develop these projects from the laboratory and bring them to market and society.
Program
Two days of workshops and residential training:
- DAY 1 – Getting started: develop the project’s economic approach (value proposition, market/user approach, business model, etc.) with contributions and insights from researchers and experts.
- DAY 2 – Consolidation: create a project development plan through workshops (the role of the researcher, IP, focus on the innovation ecosystem and possible financial support).
And three months of regular follow-up with the emlyon Business School:
- FOCUS 1: Take your first steps towards the market
- FOCUS 2: Identify your market and future users
- FOCUS 3: Make your market approach a reality
- FOCUS 4: Anticipate the perceptions of future customers and users
- FOCUS 5: Build your team and work with a CEO
- FOCUS 6: Build and pitch your project for funding

Important dates
• Workshop and residential training: April 4 and 5, 2024
• Regular follow-up with the emlyon business school: six half-days in April, May and June 2024 (on Fridays every other week)

• The six half-days of regular follow-up will take place on the PULSALYS premises on the LyonTech-la Doua campus.
