The Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, INSA Lyon, the Crous de Lyon and the Université de Lyon have come together to draw up a new Urban and Real Estate Master Plan for the LyonTech-la Doua Campus. This strategic document will serve as a guide for the development of the Campus up to 2035. This process is underpinned by key dates designed to involved all campus users.

Since March 2024, the Université Claude Bernard Lyon 1, INSA Lyon, the Crous de Lyon and the Université de Lyon, supported by the Urban Project Management Consortium (TVK -contractor-, EODD, OLM, AIA, ON, Cronos, LFU, R&RA), have been working together to draw up a new Urban and Real Estate Master Plan.

Following on from previous Master Plans (Urbino 2002, Lipsky & Rollet 2009, Dumetier Design 2014), this framework document will serve as a guide for the future development and renovation of the LyonTech-la Doua campus up to 2035. It aims to encourage reflection on a wide range of topics: real estate, landscape, urban mobility, rainwater management, lighting, utilities, fire protection, signage, artistic heritage, etc.

In order to bring together users and stakeholders, two major collaborative workshops were organized on the campus on May 22 and October 3. These workshops enabled us to work together to:

  • Design a desirable future for the campus, and identify criteria for success,
  • Identify the main issues and plans to deal with them,
  • Determine the priority actions to be taken and map them out.

This invaluable input will enable us to propose new ambitions for the LyonTech-la Doua campus, as well as a proposal for short-, medium- and long-term implementation.

The proposed development process will be presented in the second half of 2025. It will be formalized in a written document, with maps and incorporated into a Book of General Urban, Architectural and Landscape Guidelines, which must be included in all future development of public spaces and buildings.

At the same time, the Urban Project Management team will continue to support the campus’ institutions with their respective projects.

These considerations are being rounded off by a partnership with the City of Villeurbanne and the Métropole de Lyon, with a view to coordinating with the Franges Sud de la Doua Master Plan, currently being carried out by the Métropole.
