[IN OUR INSTITUTIONS] The CHEL[s] is launching a diploma focusing on major transitions

On The March 20, 2025

Currently made up of eight member and associate institutions of the Université de Lyon, the College of Advanced Studies and Science in Lyon (CHEL[s] - Collège des hautes études Lyon Sciences) offers students unconventional, cross-disciplinary courses that go beyond traditional academic fields. With this in mind, the CHEL[s] has just launched its first inter-institutional diploma on major transitions.

This new, one-year, cross-disciplinary course aims to encourage students from different backgrounds (having completed Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees) to address the major transitions brought about by climate change and to take on the challenges of tomorrow, in a cross-disciplinary and complementary manner.

With no specific prerequisites in terms of academic field, this course focuses on three areas:

  1. Measuring and monitoring impacts,
  2. Understanding the major transitions,
  3. Taking action to bring about change.

The learning objectives of this one-of-a-kind diploma in France are:

  • Knowing how to work across different academic fields,
  • Developing a systemic, cross-disciplinary vision of the major transitions,
  • Mastering the rules of change management.
