Around 80 people attended the evening event on the premises of the Université de Lyon, including some fifty scientists covering all disciplines from over twenty different countries.

Espace Ulys, the Université de Lyon’s EURAXESS center, offers services to make it easier for international scientists to move to Lyon and Saint-Étienne.

In 2024, over 450 PhD students and researchers benefited from support when moving to the university site, covering the main formalities: migration and administrative formalities, housing, healthcare and integration.

In order to welcome new international PhD students and researchers to the site, Espace Ulys wanted to organize a friendly event to introduce them to the Université de Lyon. Around 80 newly-arrived international PhD students and researchers accepted the invitation and their enthusiasm made this welcome evening a success.

Key stakeholders in the integration of these talents, member and associate institutions, laboratories, partners and associations were also invited to take part in this informative and friendly event.

Nathalie Dompnier, President of the Université de Lyon, opened the event by stating that she was delighted to welcome to the campus so many richly diverse minds, all of whom chose the Université de Lyon.

The evening was vibrant, with a wide range of speakers:

  • Presentation of the Université de Lyon’s initiatives, including the CSR commitment of the consortium,
  • A practical reminder of the formalities to be completed when moving to the region,
  • The evening was interspersed with testimonials from scientists who have benefited from the services of Espace Ulys at various stages of their stay.

Following the presentations, attendees had the chance to talk to each other informally over a cocktail.
