[SIGNATURE] The Université de Lyon adopts a Masterplan for Sustainable Development & CSR

On December 17, 2024, the Board of Directors of the Université de Lyon unanimously adopted its Masterplan for Sustainable Development and Corporate Social Responsibility (SD&CSR). Four key areas to strengthen the measures already rolled out in recent years by the Université de Lyon and its institutions, and to engage the community more strongly in the transition.

The Université de Lyon’s approach is based on a number of principles that are essential for the roll-out of SD&CSR actions: leading by example with regard to its members and associates, coordination as an accelerator of transitions in higher education and research, and dialogue for a transition that takes into account the challenges and aspirations of the Université de Lyon’s regional partners.

The SD&CSR Masterplan is the result of joint and collective work with the two communities that make up the Université de Lyon:

  • The departments and teams of the Université de Lyon, who have each undertaken a review to reduce their impact and develop their coordination functions;
  • The 35 member and associate institutions, who have entrusted the Université de Lyon with coordinating SD&CSR issues through a technical committee and an inter-institutional political commission dedicated to major transitions.


 A masterplan that mirrors the 4 key areas in the site contract

  1. “Transform and organize the local coordination structure”
    Define a clear, interdisciplinary CSR organization and governance within the Université de Lyon, reduce the impact of its operations and strengthen its social policy.
     
  2. “Support the institutions’ strategies”
    Clarify the role of the Université de Lyon for better coordination of the institutions’ CSR strategies and pooling of actions to be carried out collectively. Take action with regard to training and the site’s research strategy.

  3. “Coordinate and manage areas of common interest”
    Integrate SD&CSR issues more broadly into the areas managed by the Université de Lyon, such as energy renovation, quality of student life, innovation and entrepreneurship, scientific mediation, etc.

  4. “Promote the site and anchor it in its ecosystem”
    Integrate and articulate the Université de Lyon’s thinking with local dynamics and the partnership ecosystem of the university site.

An annual action plan will be drafted to roll out this masterplan for all Université de Lyon departments.
