Exosomes, predictive biomarkers of chemotherapy efficacy in prostate cancer

Prostate cancer (PCa) is the second most common cause of cancer-related death in men, and the leading cause of death over the age of 65. At this stage, 5-year survival drops to 25%. Metastatic PCa patients receive taxane-based chemotherapy, which is initially beneficial and improves survival. Unfortunately, over time these patients develop resistance to one or more taxanes. A better understanding of the mechanisms involved is needed to prevent and correct chemotherapy resistance.
